The Cityscapes project explores contemporary book design, print and the ability of books to cross boundaries from object d’art to everyday utilitarian tools. The projects is focused around a hand-bound, letterpress printed book of imaginary landscapes accompanied by a poetic narrative exploring themes of materiality and belonging.
Sacic moved to the United States as a teenager. She continues to keep in close contact with family using increasingly modern technology. The images of landscapes in this book juxtapose buildings from Croatia with those in Illinois. These drawings are inspired by her connections to home and family.
Written, designed, printed, and bound by the artist in an edition of 50 during an artist residency at the Center for Book and Paper Arts Columbia, College Chicago.
